Meet Chie, Forest Park Conservancy’s new Operations Coordinator. Chie will oversee FPC’s internal operations and will be the first point of contact for a variety of areas for our organization including coordinating our finances, HR, and our donor database. Chie will be working to improve our operational efficiency to improve FPC’s programming and help us build capacity to do more work in Forest Park. And we’re so lucky to have her help!
If you ever call our office or stop by to pick up a map, you will likely meet Chie; so, to help you make her acquaintance, we asked her a few questions:
FPC: Where is your hometown?
Chie: Nagoya, Japan.
FPC: What brought you to the Forest Park Conservancy?
Chie: I love nature and love hiking. Forest Park is one of my favorite hiking spot and a sanctuary to me. I’m so fortunate to be able to find the position that fit to both my professional background and passion about nature.
FPC: What will your work focus on while at the Forest Park Conservancy?
Chie: I would like to get familiar with the operations side of FPC first then start focus on streamlining processes and improve efficiency of operation and communication with both internal and external supporters.
FPC: Before working at the Forest Park Conservancy, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
Chie: Elevator operator! I worked for a major department store as an elevator operator weekday nights when I was a college student. (a long time ago!) I got to wear a really nice designer uniform and white glove and had very interesting conversations with strangers in the tiny box.
FPC: Do you have a favorite quote?
Chie: “If you have willpower, then you can change anything. It is usually said that you are your own master.” ― Dalai Lama
FPC: What is your personal favorite place in Forest Park? Is there a part of Forest Park you have heard about that you want to visit?
Chie: It is my goal to finish all 33 miles of Wildwood Trail this summer!
