Forest Park Conservancy Endorses Measure 26-203: The Nature for All Regional Greenspace Bond Measure

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

Can you imagine a Portland Metro region without iconic public greenspaces like Forest Park? Dedicated greenspaces protect species biodiversity, provide us with clean air and water, create landscape resiliency in the face of climate change, and give communities the opportunity to drive a green economy.

Forest Park Conservancy knows that ensuring adequate funding for accessible greenspaces takes action. That’s why we have moved to formally endorse the Nature for All campaign led by Metro.

The Nature for All campaign seeks to renew our region-wide Metro bond that ensures birds, fish, friends and neighbors alike have access to clean air, clean water, and beautiful, resilient parks.

After a yearlong community engagement and comprehensive stakeholder process Metro referred one of the most collaborative and equitably driven measures ever put before Oregon voters and Forest Park Conservancy is thrilled to be a partner on the ground floor. We will be working alongside a growing coalition of conservation groups, social justice and community organizations, elected leaders, and individuals representing working families, health professionals, business owners, faith groups, and more.

This November 5th voters in Washington, Clackamas and Multnomah county will have the opportunity to vote in favor of Nature for All. This measure will be the only large item on the November 2019 ballot so we’re excited to make it a centerpiece of our focus and communications from now to election day.

Without raising taxes, this measure will:

  • Preserve our region’s water quality—from the Willamette, Clackamas, and Tualatin rivers, to important headwaters, and local streams and wetlands;
  • Protect forests, open spaces, and areas at risk from development that are important for wildlife habitat, recreation, and needed to safeguard our air and water;
  • Ensure all kids—regardless of zip code or income—have great places to play by improving access and facilities at regional parks and in communities across the Metro region to better serve our growing, diverse populations.
