Volunteer Crew Leader Training: Trails Edition
Capacity: 30 (47% booked)
Do you want to develop your leadership skills and learn more about how FPC maintains the trails in Forest Park? If yes, you might want to sign up
for this half-day class where you will learn all about maintaining trails and becoming a Volunteer Crew Leader with the Forest Park Conservancy!
Volunteer Crew Leaders, or VCLs, are the backbone of our volunteer program in the park. They provide support to help manage the nearly 1,000 volunteers who join our work parties throughout the year to restore habitat and repair trails in Forest Park. VCLs help with everything from helping to set up work parties to ensuring quality control at our project sites to leading small groups on the trails. VCLs make it possible for the Forest Park Conservancy to coordinate so many work parties each year.
This training will focus on trail work and will include both indoor classroom and field work to give new VCLs the foundation of skills they need to be a Crew Leader. If you are currently a Volunteer Crew Leader, you're welcome to retake the course to keep up to date on our trail work practices and learn new ways you can help out.
After the training, Volunteer Crew Leaders agree to help lead 3 events per year. Each Volunteer Crew Leader will receive a FPC Crew Leader hat, a training manual, as well as become eligible for other swag and opportunities throughout the year.
The training is free and we will have coffee and snacks/lunch!
FPC will also be hosting a restoration-focused training for Volunteer Crew Leaders in the fall/winter. Check back soon for details!
