What helps identfify Portland is its parks. More than anything else, it's Forest Park...it establishes the geography of the city and it ties us to our history of settlement. It shaped the city, and it still shapes the city's personality"

Why Forest Park Conservancy?

For over half a century, Forest Park has been a place valued for its own sake and as an expression of our most deeply held aspirations for opportunity and prosperity, for community and conservation. It is a place that has invited us to renew our relationship with nature whether lingering on its edges in awe or plunging deep within to find solace, recreational challenge and opportunity. For all those years Friends of Forest Park has been the Park’s strongest protector and advocate. In 2008, in honor of Forest Park’s 60th anniversary, Friends of Forest Park will usher in a momentous new chapter in the Park’s history by transitioning to the Forest Park Conservancy.

The Conservancy will be dedicated to the continued preservation, enhancement and sustainability of Forest in partnership with our members, and Friends and Portland Parks and Recreation. The Conservancy will also continue to serve as the most passionate advocate for Forest Park and its everlasting recreational, educational, contemplative, ecological and economic values
