Spring Day of Stewardship 2016

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

What a perfect day for more than 140 volunteers to turn out to help restore Forest Park!

Saturday, March 19th was our annual Spring Day of Stewardship. This is one of the biggest work parties we organize and Saturday’s event was spectacular. There were five sites in all and a fun after-party hosted by NW Natural. In all we accomplished a lot:

  • 19,000 square feet of invasive plants were removed;
  • 1 mile of trail was repaired;
  • 400 native plants were planted; and
  • 3 French drains were built!

As Lori Gaffney, FPC Board member and Day of Stewardship volunteer said, “I love volunteering in Forest Park with my husband and friends. We get outside, work hard and give back to the place we all enjoy. It’s also very gratifying seeing the significant progress we achieve as a group.”

We are grateful for the support of our volunteers, The Standard, NW Natural and our great crew leaders!
