Beers Made By Walking

Beer lovers rejoice! Forest Park Conservancy is proud to announce a new partnership and upcoming series of events with Beers Made By Walking. The Beers Made By Walking program brings brewers to nature trails and city streets, where local flavors inspire new beers.

The program has received national attention for organizing innovative beer events and engaging over 45 breweries in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado including Deschutes, New Belgium, Crooked Stave, Upright, and Boulder Beer.

As part of the Beers Made By Walking program, Forest Park Conservancy is teaming up with local breweries to host a series of educational hikes, aka Beer Walks, which will highlight the brewability of local plants and tour some of the most pristine forests in the Portland area – Forest Park and The Ancient Forest Preserve. Beers inspired by these places will be made available at special tasting events and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Forest Park Conservancy.

Forest Park Conservancy’s Matt Wagoner and Thunder Island Brewing‘s Dan Hynes will kick off the first of the Beer Walks on May 24th in the Ancient Forest Preserve, just north of Forest Park. Dan has been experimenting with strains of yeast gathered from the Preserve’s old-growth-forest air, so the resulting beer is sure to be unique!

Register for the Ancient Forest Beer Walk today and keep an eye on our events page for future Beer Walks and tastings.
