Announcing Our Summer Nights Work Parties!

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

What better way to spend a summer evening than working on Forest Park’s the trails? Join us for Summer Nights 2017! These limited time volunteer events are part of a three-month Summer Nights series, every last Tuesday from June – August.

Every year at about this time, the sun-hungry plants of Forest Park try to take over the trails. We all love the Charmin-soft leaves of the thimbleberry, the bright spore-speckled fronds of the sword fern, and the rough, droopy stalks of the elderberry, but these plants have no place in the trail corridor. Trail corridors are where forest visitors should pass freely, without physical or visual barriers, and always feel comfortable enough to tread on the stable, inside edge. The duty of Summer Nights volunteers is to clear these corridors of encroaching vegetation and return the trails to the people. Don’t worry, the plants will grow back. They always do.

Afterwards, join us for a complimentary round of beer (or root beer) at Portland Brewing Company.
