What helps identfify Portland is its parks. More than anything else, it's Forest Park...it establishes the geography of the city and it ties us to our history of settlement. It shaped the city, and it still shapes the city's personality"

- Chet Orloff, historian and chair of Portland Parks and Recreation Board

The Forest Park Conservancy

The mission of Friends of Forest Park is to maintain, preserve, protect, and improve the City of Portland's Forest Park so as to enhance its value as an irreplaceable asset for wildlife habitat and for the use and enjoyment of the public.

The mission of The Forest Park Conservancy is to maintain, preserve, protect, and improve the City of Portland's Forest Park so as to enhance its value as an irreplaceable asset for wildlife habitat and for the use and enjoyment of the public. We provide vital support to the Portland Parks and Recreation Natural Resources Division, which manages this city-owned Park on a limited budget. Our primary areas of focus include land acquisition, habitat preservation, trail and trailhead projects, and public outreach. Volunteers are the heart of our organization - please click here to learn about upcoming opportunities.

Forest Park is America's Premier Urban Forest with over 5,000 acres of forested 'wilderness' in the City of Portland's West hills overlooking the Willamette River. Forest park is home to a wide array of flora and fauna, miles of hiking trails and many bike trails. Forest park is a place of adventure and retreat, a resource for residents of NW Oregon.
